Thank you to Mark McGinnis for organizing last Saturday's club outing to Lone Lake. The doughnuts he provided were excellent!
While I didn't see everyone, I hear that attendance was nice: me, McGin, Gianna Holle, Jim Rohrer, Clarence Hein, and Paul Messner. The lake was also being used by members of the Evergreen Fly Club.
From the reports I got, not many fish were caught. I don't know what part it may have played in the poor fish count, but the wind was something you really contended with. It looked like the Evergreen folks concentrated on the more sheltered northeast corner of the lake. Meathead that I am, I toughed it out on the main lake, partly because I'd never explored the entire shoreline. Of course, the strongest and most sustained winds kicked up just as I started back to the boat launch from nearly the most distant point on the lake. For ten minutes it felt like I was rowing into the teeth of a gale.
Oh, well. That's fishing. And did I say how good those doughnuts were?
