It's me------MIA. Sorry I've been out of reach recently. Fished the most part of this month from EA. WA. to Key West with a modicum of success. Enough later. Joan and I just got back from hiking Possession to see what the beach was like at a -4 low tide. Sure looked fishy, but there was no sign of bait fish. Thus, so birds, sea lions etc. Clarence called and said he fished the outgoing tide a couple of nights ago with no success. We need bait fish so I will keep checking.

Gianna, I've got purple 8/0 thread. I also have purple Ice Dub UV. In addition I have thin purple floss and a small chenille. Have lots of hooks. I fished purple haze in Sun Valley, but we used 18 and 20's.

Mark, love your story. I remember about 5 years ago a member of our club who has since moved away called me all excited. He had been fishing Pass with little success when he spotted some minnows jumping closer to show. He kicked over and found the browns were chasing then. He then changed to a small streamer on his dry line and had a field day. When he called me he had just gotten home and was so hyped up and said he had to call someone. His story is much like yours.

Great report Mark. Thanks. I fished Ft. Casey yesterday with Clarence and today by myself. Got shut out both days. Fishing is extremely slow even for the gear guys. Only saw one fish caught below the bunkers this am and most lest around 9:30. There is an occasional fish being caught, but they are far and few between.

Great writeup Mark----Thanks. I surveyed a few of the beaches to day----Bush Pt., Lagoon Pt. and Driftwood Park. Visited with a few of the gear guys and felt their disappointment. Fish are few and even though at certain times there seems to be a number of fish in the area, they cannot get them to bite. Heard this from fishermen from all three beaches. I fished Possession twice last week without success. I didn't feel so bad since the gear fishermen had no better luck than I did. I did see a few jump, but couldn't get them to bite. However, the Commando line is working well.

Thanks Phil. I'm 10 minutes from Lone and drove down there at 10:30 this morning. I expected more than the usual dozen cars, but today counted over 30. Too many for me so will wait. Bob's right. I too will hit the beach.

High tide on the 3rd. will be around 5:30 am. I plan on getting there a bit early perhaps around 6:30. (That's way early for me, but will see.) You have a couple of options. I like right below the bunker at Ft. Casey. You can park at Ft. Casey and hike acoss the field, (stay to the left) climb up over the bunkers and find the path leading down to the beach and fish right there. Any clouser will work, (coho love green) but attached is one of Scott Williston's go to flies. However, how you fish makes a different as well. Sinking tip line and fast retrieve. Look on the internet for coho flies and you'll get the idea. Make sure you weight the fly. Was at Ft. Casey last night. Fish are staring to show so plan on hitting the high tide tonight at 5:00pm Tip. You can fish the beach just South of Ft. Casey, (Ebey's Landing) but wind is problem Last night was a case in point. You might try Buffalo Lake near Grand Coulee. You can buy a license for a day at the tribal center a few miles out of town. From there it's about 30 minutes to the lake. Nice fish. Another option is Coffee Pot lake. I've not fished it, but the Dry Side Fishers had an outing there and I was told they did well. A third option is Long Lake. It's a bit further West from Buffalo, but has cutthroat. We had fun there last year. It's a mountain lake and fish only run around 12-14 inches, but you should be alone and it's quite beautiful.

It's the Dahlia Shrimp pattern. You'll pick up and salmon here and there as well.

Thanks for the report. I visited Lone Lake on Monday and spotted Clarence, Larry and Jake fishing. On Tuesday I sent Clarence a note asking how they did. Jake got one, Clarence 3 and Larry 4. From what I saw all were trolling. Didn't ask about patterns, but bet it was all over the board.

What section of the river did you drift? You should make a small present at the club meeting. Glad you two did well.,

It's really blowing down here and rain as well. I suggest we cancel today. We certainly don't want to be on the water in this wind. Forecast said it will continue to be breezy.

Sounds great. I will try and meet you there as well. Got some flies and will try and recommend where to fish etc. I was out this week and may go tomorrow. Where does Carole live? If you two could make it earlier it would be best. The lake starts shutting down around 2:00pm , so earlier works better. I usually try and be on the water around 10-11.

I was using a size 8 clouser pattern. It's better to have your fly weighted and sinking tip or full sink works best. Do not think they are too particular as far as fly patterns, but as you know, coho favor green.
